The Apex Legends pros are constantly looking for advantages they can gain over their opponents, and that often means developing new strategies.
If one of these tactics is extremely effective, it's never long before other squads pick up on it and a new meta is born. Currently in the ALGS, teams are abusing snipers to land chip damage from afar on opposing squads, with the Charge Rifle being the primary gun of choice.
In response, TSM pro Phillip "ImperialHal" Dosen has slammed the current meta as one of the "dumbest" of all time.
ImperialHal hates "broken" Charge Rifle meta in ALGS
As showcased by Zipp, ImperialHal was talking to his Twitch chat about the influx of snipers that have taken over the ALGS and competitive play in recent weeks.
While a lot of long-range weapons are being abused by teams, it's the "broken" Charge Rifle specifically that is frustrating Hal.
The gun can deal "50 to 100 damage from 200 meters away," so it's almost impossible to counter or return fire. Not only that, the Charge Rifle has no bullet or damage drop-off, so it's incredibly easy to land consistent damage from a distance.

As the number of snipers in lobbies has "quadrupled," it forces other ALGS teams to adopt the strategy.
Squads can lock down buildings and just deal chip damage from long distances, slowly eroding the resources of their foes. For Hal, this meta is one of the "dumbest" of all time and doesn't require much skill to succeed.
It's obvious he's keen to get back to the aggressive skirmishes that involve using ARs, SMGs, and Shotguns. With Season 17 on the horizon, there's a chance the Charge Rifle will get nerfed, but so far, there's been no word from Respawn on reducing the weapon's power.
