"Nazis, I hate these guys." While Harrison Ford has stepped away from playing Doctor Indiana Jones in live-action, the legacy of the world's hunkiest archaeologist is far from over. MachineGames is working on Indiana Jones and the Great Circle for Bethesda, with the Xbox exclusive already looking like a lot of fun.

Indiana Jones games are nothing new, stretching all the way back to Raiders of the Lost Ark on the Atari 2600. There have also been original stories like Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis, LEGO Indiana Jones, and even him cracking his whip in Fortnite. Now, The Great Circle looks like a return to form.

Indiana Jones and the Great Circle is already better than The Dial of Destiny

The first gameplay footage of Indiana Jones and the Great Circle has debuted to rave reviews, channelling MachineGames' stellar work on the Wolfenstein games with the nostalgia of Indiana Jones. After delivering some stellar Wolfenstein titles since 2014, the team sure knows how to handle its Nazis.

Indiana Jones and the Great Circle is a mix of first and third-person action, letting you get up close and personal with villains but also establishing that classic Indy charm through some beautiful-looking cutscenes. From what little we've seen so far, it looks like it has everything you could want from an Indy game - it's not every day there's an airship looming over the Vatican.

Over on Twitter, fans were equally buzzing for a hopeful return to form. Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny was panned upon arrival but has since fared a little better. Still, the general consensus is that The Great Circle is already better than Dial of Destiny.

One cheered, "Indiana Jones and The Great Circle looks so much better than Dial of Destiny ..." Another added, "Let's see more of Indy on adventures, rather than him sitting at home drunk & depressed like a bum. I have faith in Todd & Machine Games 🙏."

A third said, "The game is about to be better than the last 2 big budget films released for the character lol," and someone concluded, "The makers of this game understand Indy more than James Mangold did 👍."

Who plays Indiana Jones in The Great Circle?

Troy Baker as Indiana Jones in Indiana Jones and the Great Circle

Staying true to his word, Harrison Ford has really hung up his hat with The Dial of Destiny, which will be a disappointment to many. As well as being something of a lacklustre way to round off his time in the role, there's the sad realisation that we'll likely never see the OG Indy again.

With Ford stepping back, you might be asking who's voicing Indy in The Great Circle. Even those with a keen ear might not recognise it's the legendary Troy Baker lending his vocals to the lead. Baker is known for voicing Joel in The Last of Us, Sam Drake in Uncharted, and holds the record for the most acting nominations at the BAFTA Games Awards.

We'll admit that The Great Circle might not be the best title, but feeling like Uncharted if it had the ability to punch Nazis, we're sold. With Indiana Jones and the Great Circle on the way later this year, we're more than ready to hear that infamous whipcrack.
