Modern Warfare 2 has been nothing short of divisive from the get-go, but despite opinions being batted back and forth like a shuttlecock, it remains a series best-seller that still boasts one of the highest player counts for a Call of Duty title at this stage of its annual lifetime.

Although it could have been so much more, Infinity Ward has continued to provide fans with bundles of updates that include maps, modes, and weapons all to improve the experience and keep players' guns up.

But with the core design of multiplayer (spawns, movement, and UI) still being scrutinised, and a mass quality-of-life update coming to Warzone, the developers have now revealed its overall contentment with Modern Warfare 2, just as Season 4 rolls out.

Infinity Ward is 'happy' with Modern Warfare 2 performance

Although the spawn system, highly-toned down movement mechanics, and a lack of remastered old-school Modern Warfare 2 content has rubbed up some players the wrong way, the multiplayer shooter appears to be doing pretty well, and unlike in previous years with Vanguard, the developers have claimed that they are "happy" with the performance of the game.

According to the in-the-know Call of Duty page CharlieIntel, the developers told content creators that they won't be adding many changes to Modern Warfare 2 as they are "happy with how multiplayer is performing".

These comments were reportedly made in February, before Season 3 launched, and way ahead of the proposed boycott led by Herschel "Dr Disrespect" Beahm amid the Nick "NICKMERCS" Kolcheff Operator bundle drama.

MW2 fans warned not to expect any more QOL updates for multiplayer

Although it seems like we will have one more season after it was revealed Season 4 will be much shorter than previous splits, multiplayer fans have been warned not to expect any more quality-of-life updates to Modern Warfare 2.

Season 4 did tweak some of the spawns for maps such as Himmelmatt Expo and Breenburgh Hotel - just a day before the Call of Duty World Championships kicks off - but it seems like this will be the last major adjustment that we will get.

So, if you're still praying for some movement buffs, wishing for the return of bunny-hopping or slide cancelling, or even want that classic MW2 map pool to drop, it seems like you're out of luck and should probably put your genie back in its lamp until next time.
