There's potentially no music to our ears today (July 21), as Heardle is down. In the current boom of guessing games like Wordle, Quordle, Moviedle, and all the rest, Heardle is something a little different. Playing a single second of a song, you have to guess whether you're listening to the opening of "Mr. Brightside" or "Toxic."

For those who think they're on Top of the Pops, Heardle has become a daily addiction as you try to beat your friends. Sadly, there's no guessing today, as Heardle is down. If you want to know why Heardle is not working, we've got the inside track on what's going on.

Why Is Heardle Down?

This isn't the first time Heardle has experienced issues. On various occasions, the Heardle team has reached out via its social media platforms to explain what has gone wrong with the popular Wordle-like game.

Posting on Twitter, the official Heardle account on June 13 said: "Sorry if anyone's having trouble loading the player for today's Heardle - looks like an issue on Soundcloud's side, which hopefully will be resolved soon." Given that Heardle uses external tech to source its songs, it again sounds like it's out of Heardle's control. For now, all we have is the sound of silence.

Today's Heardle issue may be due to the same cause but instead, on Spotify's end thanks to the recent acquisition, but we're yet to hear official word. We'll update you with any new information as and when we receive it.

When Will Heardle Be Back Up?

Heardle is down

Sadly, there's no news on when Heardle will be back up. Heardle has been down for a number of hours, and with no end in sight, you'll have to find your entertainment elsewhere for now. The comments section on the tweet from June 13 was filled with angry responses for those who are missing out on Heardle, but we're yet to see any official response today. If you want to get the jump on the competition before Heardle starts working again, we've already got the Heardle answer today.
