If you've been spending any time playing Helldivers 2 since launch, you'll know that the fight is never done. Whether battling the insect-like Terminids or the Terminator-like Automatons, Helldivers 2 was a huge success - but has started to slow down.
While fans have been complaining about a lack of content, it appears the tide could turn as the long-fabled Illuminate has made it into the game - albeit briefly.

The Illuminate was featured in the first Helldivers, and we've had them hinted at for months since Helldivers 2 arrived - but the screenshot above marks their debut on the in-game galaxy map.
As you can see, they've got their own purple-hued section of the map, and they'd started with five sectors captured from the outset. It's seemingly gone now, but as Arrowhead often does, they acknowledged it as a "service outage".
In-game text reads "Some Helldivers may have noticed a recent service outage in the Major Order Communication Display. The issue has since been resolved (details below)."
"Cause: Organic tissue degradation on electronic equipment
Discussion: Comms. Technician #R-2342 became stranded in server farm. Cause of death: exposure"
"Resolution: Electronics replaced. Family of deceased fined for damages."
It's the kind of thing the studio has become known for, but it does prompt the question about how close the Illuminate are. We've seen reports as early as March suggesting that the Illuminate were coming, but it seems they could be here before we know it.
