According to TMZ, the actor James McCaffrey, who was best known for his role as the voice of Max Payne, has sadly passed away at the age of 65.

James McCaffrey, the actor who is best known for his role as the voice of Max Payne, has sadly passed away - according to TMZ.

James McCaffrey, the voice of Max Payne, has died

A representative for McCaffrey confirmed to TMZ that the 65-year-old passed away on Sunday, surrounded by family and friends after a battle with cancer. He had reportedly been diagnosed with multiple myeloma.

The news was first indicated by an Instagram post from Entourage star Kevil Dillon, who said, "We were lucky to have you. My best friend you will be missed."

Fans pay their respects to James McCaffrey

Tributes to the actor and his performances have begun to flood Twitter as fans of the Max Payne games pay their respects.

Along with his work on Max Payne, McCaffrey was well known for his appearances in Law & Order: SVU, Suits and Viper. He also reunited with the Remedy Games team in 2019 as Zachariah Trench in Control.
