Japan’s Detective Pikachu plush is on the way to the West

It looks like the best bit of Poke-merch from the launch of Detective Pikachu Returns is coming to our shores - but there's one mystery left for the mouse to solve.

While the Detective Pikachu games aren't a reflection of the unreasonably good movie (as over here in the West, that's easily the first thing we think of when the inquisitive mouse is mentioned), that doesn't mean that the adventures Pikachu and Harry have in their bizarre spin-off aren't fantastic.

The Pikachu with a penchant for solving crimes is dead sweet, and we hate to admit that we relate to his addiction to coffee. Now, it looks like a new Pokemon plush gives us a chance to bring the crime-solving mouse home.

Japan's Detective Pikachu plush is coming overseas

As is often the case with Pokemon merchandise, we'd thought that Japan would be getting the first pick of the goodies, but it looks like the best part of Detective Pikachu is coming overseas.

It has been confirmed that the adorable Detective Pikachu plush that was revealed as a part of the marketing push for his new game will be coming to the UK, US, and Canada. The Detective Pikachu plush will be coming "soon," although we don't yet have a timeframe for his touchdown.

We'll take the news that he's arriving soon as it is, even if we don't know when he's coming - but there's one other detail that we can't be sure of just yet.

Will the Detective Pikachu plush talk?

Though the plush is on its way, there's one thing we can't be sure of - will it talk? The Japanese edition of the plush does chat, spouting all the usable memeable catchphrases like you'd expect him to.

At the time of writing, there's no confirmation on whether the Western Detective Pikachu will have much to say when he hits our shores. As the Pokemon plush's ability to talk is a major selling point in Japan, we'd expect him to be quite the chatterbox here.

Either way, the cuddly guy and his deerstalker are on the way - and he'd better be ready to be mobbed by Pokemon fans everywhere. If you need someone to provide his vocals, why not get Ryan Reynolds on the phone?
