As a legend of Basketball, the slim, slender, and ice-cool Kevin Durant has adopted a number of signature nicknames over the years.
"KD" (which somehow suits CoD better than any other), "Durantula", and "Slim Reaper" are all monikers reflecting the great Durant, but none of these were really reflected when the baller entered the FPS world with a crazy collaboration with Activision.
Now though, the Call of Duty-loving athlete wants an update to his Modern Warfare 3 Operator, as he's finally owning one tag which he used to hate.
Kevin Durant wants a bigger and better Operator in Call of Duty
Despite having two different designs for both Mobile and Console/PC, Durant actually wants to lean into the Slim Reaper tag and adopt it as his signature look in Call of Duty.
Speaking on the Boardroom Podcast, Durant said, "I want to update it too. I wanted to do the Slim Reaper in there, with the hood on, the long [cloak]. I wanted my weapon to be the scythe, and I wanted to make him 6'9"."
However, Activision quickly shut down the notion of making him a giant in Call of Duty, staying strict with the hitboxes.
"They were like ‘Nah, you’ll stand out too much. You’d get killed too easily'," Durant added.
Back in 2014, Durant told CBS that he didn't really like the nickname, but has since grown into the grim sobriquet, donning the cloaked alias at every chance.
Kevin Durant explains how he got an MW2 Operator
Durant continued to discuss his love for CoD, even stating that there should be an NBA Warzone Private lobby - although Devin Booker would likely win the lot - and opened up on how he ended up landing himself within the series.
"Just from playing every day. Then I went up to the game that is out now and played it early. I went up to the offices which are right around the corner from my house, and I'm like 'f**k it lets vibe with them', and they just let me make an Operator."
Durant's best shot at getting this update might be by schmoozing Treyarch, who will likely be releasing some Halloween cosmetics in their first wave of skins in the upcoming Black Ops game, where the slim reaper concept would fit right in.
