Call of Duty is no stranger to bizarre crossovers. So far during the era of Warzone, we've seen the likes of Rambo, John McClane, Leatherface, and Ghostface make it into the game, adopting the Fortnite model of recognisability and dumping a whole bunch of faces into the fight.
This year, though, they've made an odd choice with their cosmetics - as Vanguard brought Levi from Attack on Titan to the game, in an effort to promote the final series of the anime. It's a bizarre skin by any metric, and it's not a crossover that many fans could have predicted. And now, another unusual addition to the game could be on the way.
King Kong May Be Coming To Warzone
According to some Call of Duty leakers, it looks like an out-there King Kong-themed event could be coming to Warzone. First teased by Reality and then suggested by popular leaker ModernWarzone, the event looks like it'd pit the big ape against squads as an antagonist, and task players with taking him down.
"Dataminers and leakers are teasing a potential King Kong live event for Warzone where Kong fights off incoming fighter planes and bombers," reads the tweet. Intriguing. This is a strange event that doesn't seem to be connected to anything happening in pop culture right now - but hey, we'll take it. But we've got one request.
Make Warzone's King Kong The 1933 Original
Though Peter Jackson's 2005 film and Kong's appearance in the MonsterVerse has given modern audiences a new idea of how the beast should be, we're hoping that Warzone will embrace the janky weirdness of the 1933 version of King Kong, from the original film that put him in the public eye.
Â
It'd tie in nicely to Vanguard's Second World War setting as a familiar face in the time's pop culture, and really steer into how strange the event will end up being. If that wasn't enough, others seem to think Godzilla will be joining the party, meaning we'll have a true clash of the titans.Â
Although, whichever way Kong (and maybe Godzilla) appears, it's bound to be a weird event anyway. Kong's appearance isn't something we've been able to see coming, so fair play to Warzone - at least they're keeping us on our toes, eh?
