We might have been able to see it from a mile away, but it still hurts all the same when we see it in writing - Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 has been delayed to 2025.

Warhorse Studio was previously aiming to launch the sequel in its medieval RPG series in the late stages of 2024, although no concrete date was ever given. Now, it seems we'll be exploring the huge open world of the sequel in a few months.

Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 gets a new release date

It’s not all bad news, though. While 2025 might seem like an age away, the official release date of Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 is now February 11, 2025. With the game slated to arrive within the first six weeks of the new year, it makes the delay much more palatable.

In the last seven years, the team at Warhorse has grown almost exponentially. While around 90 people launched the first game, the team is now over 250 strong. As a result, the sequel promises to be bigger and better than before, and the team wants to spend a little longer putting those finishing touches to make the launch smooth for fans.

The news of the delay arrives at a busy time for the developer. It’s due to showcase its game at the Gamescom Opening Night Live presentation. In the days following, the studio will also showcase 20 minutes of gameplay, with hands-on impressions from the press swiftly following on August 21.

I was able to preview a segment of Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 on behalf of GGRecon at a preview event earlier in the month, and will have impressions to share on the August 21 embargo.

If you want to try out the game for yourself, Warhorse will also present a playable game demo on the show floor at Gamescom 2024.

While it’s always a shame to see a game’s release date slip from one year to another, plenty is going on in the world of Kingdom Come Deliverance to sate fans' appetite. With the second half of 2024 starting to stack up already in terms of releases, maybe it’s a blessing in disguise that this year has one less title to add to our backlogs!
