Kojima Could Be Working On Death Stranding Anime

With Hideo Kojima opening up a movie and TV branch of Kojima Productions, could the video game legend have already started work on a Death Stranding anime?

Well, that didn't take long, did it? Just after Hideo Kojima announced he was moving into movies and TV with a new media arm of Kojima Productions, the video game legend has confirmed he's actively working on an anime series. The question is, what is he tinkering away on, and will it include Norman Reedus?

Back in the day, Hideo Kojima was known for his work at Konami and as the man behind franchises like Metal Gear. Kojima was famously working on the canned Silent Hills, but parted ways with Konami to set up Kojima Productions.

Even though the developer has (so far) only released Death Stranding, Kojima has vowed to keep making games until his health fails him. We already know two games are in the works, and now, he's mapped out his plans for an anime series.

What Is Kojima Productions Working On?

In a translated interview with NHK Radio, Kojima said he's working on an anime which could be released in the form of a film. The translation mentions something related to "drama, film, and anime", although it's thought this is the same thing instead of three different projects.

We've come a long way from Studio Ghibli breaking into the mainstream, and with Kojima's history of violence in video games, we imagine any form of anime would be a bloody affair in the style of something like Attack on Titan

Not everyone was on board with the idea though. One critic wrote, "Well if any of that is true.... Then its sh*t something everyone can enjoy means not silent hill.. Smaller not open or shooter means no DS2 or MGS remake.. And anime i just dont care about but could be cool."

Could Kojima's Anime Be Death Stranding?

Opening the doors to speculation, Kojima's anime could be literally anything. While we'd love it to be a Silent Hill series (just imagine the potential), we've not even going to bother putting that out there. Most likely, it'll be an entirely new IP or something related to Death Stranding

A lot was cut from 2019's visceral horror, while the apocalyptic version of the United States following the cataclysmic even known as Death Stranding is crying out for exploration. We've previously speculated that Death Stranding 2 could be on the way, but in the meantime, an anime movie/series could continue the story of BRIDGES.

The big pull is clearly still Kojima's video game prowess, but seeing what he's done for the industry, we've more than a little excited to see what he can do with a brand-new medium. If it is a Death Stranding anime, you owe us a drink.
