VALORANT Champions Tour 2021 semi-finalists, KRU Esports, have been banned for a Brazilian practice server after alleged racist and discriminatory remarks have reportedly been made by their secondary duelist Angelo "keznit" Mori.

After making a shock run through to the top four teams in the world at the Champions playoffs in Berlin, the predominantly Chilean roster had been dubbed as one of the most aggressive and unorthodox teams, often tripping up more calculated teams by flooding numbers into bomb sites and causing sheer chaos.

However, Keznit has now been accused of "racist and discriminatory speech" in a scrimmage match versus Gamelanders Blue team.

Admins Ban KRU Esports From Practice Severs

The reports emerged as an admin for the Brazilian practice server took to a Twitlonger to express that the entire KRU Esports team have been banned from the server, with the stance that any such behaviour is "intolerable".

"Since the beginning of the creation of Discord and after the Pracc Server, the rules have always been available to view in the ‘rules’ channel," the admin began. "Among the rules, No. 3 points out that ‘Any kind of prejudice is unacceptable. Racism, homophobia, bullying and derivatives lead to expulsion (kick) and banning.'"

"Yesterday (February 18) the server admins received a report of a racist and discriminatory speech by the player keznitdeuS (KRÜ Esports) against the Gamelanders Blue team. Here and everywhere in the world this behaviour is intolerable. Because of this and the pre-imposed rules, the KRÜ Esports team is banned from our servers, losing access to the groups of the PRACC. We are waiting on the organization and players for comment."

KRU Esports Responds To Racism Allegations

The organisation finished joint 3rd/4th in Champions 2021, losing to eventual champions Gambit Esports, and have started life in the 2022 campaign with back-to-back clean sweeps against Optix and EBRO to top the tables in the LATAM Challengers.

After the allegations began to circulate, KRU took to social media to admit, "We are aware of what occurred and are working internally on the matter to give the corresponding sanctions."

Riot Games has yet to step into the matter, despite this not being the first time that the player in question has been alleged to have been racist. Previously, a clip of the player making monkey noises towards a VALORANT ranked player came to light, as Dignitas streamer Rafael "pava" Pavanelli lead the reports.

The developers have suspended players in the past for similar actions, having slapped League of Legends player Dennis "Svenskeren" Johnsen with a ban after a usage of a racist username.

It’s yet to be seen whether KRU will be able to resolve the matter within the practice server in order to organise scrims, although it’s likely this isn’t the last we’ve heard about the allegations.
