As gaming fans, our expectations for conferences have become a little skewed.

Whether it be a Nintendo Direct, EA Play Live, or even a PlayStation State of Play, we always expect too much, and are inevitably disappointed. All we have to do to see this in action is cast our minds back to the State of Play we got earlier this year - fans became a whirlwind of fury when it finished, with many deeming it simply not enough to warrant the name of State of Play. Fans were disappointed, to say the least.

So, when last night's State of Play was announced, it was largely with complete apathy. We've been worn down, and we simply can't expect anything exciting to come of them. But we were wrong. Thank goodness, we were so, so wrong.

Last Night's State of Play Was Incredible

After being worn down by the format for so long, we finally got a State of Play that made the name worth it - opening with Resident Evil 4, and refusing to let up on the massive announcements from there.

Resident Evil: Village in VR, Horizon: Call of the Mountain gameplay, a Stray release date, the gameplay reveal of Street Fighter 6, before ending with the reveal of the latest mainline Final Fantasy game - it was certainly one to remember. And fans can hardly believe it.

Where Can You Watch The State of Play?

If you missed the State of Play conference yourself and are hoping to catch up entirely, worry not. The entire show is available to watch on the official PlayStation YouTube account, so you can check in on what you missed, or simply relive the massive reveals all over again.

The showcase was incredible, but it poses the question now - what can the next show do to top it? Our guess is very little. We'll just have to wait and see, but in the meantime - roll on the incredible games we saw last night.
