It sounds like Sony is suiting up in spandex all over again, as "multiple" Marvel games could be on the way as PlayStation exclusives. As we wait for Insomniac Games' Spider-Man 2 and the recently announced Wolverine game, the Marvel Gaming Universe could be about to explode.

Superhero video games were once remembered for dumpster fires like Superman 64 and Catwoman somehow managing to be just as bad as its movie counterpart, but all that changed with Rocksteady's Arkham games. Following the franchise's footsteps, Insomniac Games delivered something a little brighter with the PlayStation-exclusive Marvel's Spider-Man in 2018.

What Marvel Games Are On The Way?

Posting on Twitter, leaker Rythian shared a series of emojis alongside a caption reading "Marvel x PlayStation Studios". Decyphering the emojis, it points toward individual games for Daredevil, Iron Man, Spider-Man, Punisher, and Captain America. The idea of a Daredevil game from Insomniac has been floated several times before, and given that the OG Spider-Man had several nods toward Matt Murdock, it's a logical leap for the next phase of the MCU.

While the leak is now a few weeks old, what makes it relevant is the fact Kinda Funny Games' Greg Miller claims a big PlayStation announcement is coming next week. Miller is so confident, he's even delayed his PS I Love You podcast to wait and see what Sony may be about to unveil. We know God of War Ragnarok is coming soon, and given that we've just had the Hogwarts Legacy showcase, it makes sense that something new is on the way.

There's a lot going on with Marvel thanks to the imminent release of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, so the game's industry would be wise to cash in on this hype. Instead, we've got Crystal Dynamics continuing to roll out content for Marvel's Avengers and refusing to let the panned title go to the grave. The question is, will all this work fall at the door of Insomniac games, or will another of Sony's first-party studios join the ensemble of video game Avengers?

Is Insomniac Involved With These Games?

During September's XboxEra Podcast, "Shpeshal Nick" spoke about a rumoured multiplayer Marvel game that will likely be a PlayStation 5 exclusive. The opportunities are frankly endless, but away from the Fantastic Four, just imagine the concept of a multiplayer X-Men game to recapture the magic of X-Men Legends. More than this, Shpeshal Nick said it's unconfirmed, but he's pretty sure Insomniac will be heading up the mystery title. What with Spider-Man 2 and Wolverine, the developer already has a lot on its plate. Still, it could be the overlord of the MGU for Sony.

Personally, we don't see all of the above being legit. There are a LOT of potential titles on the docket, while heroes like Iron Man and Captain America seem a little generic. If we were betting people, we'd put our money on Insomniac eventually moving forward with a Daredevil game. Then again, could we see the developer redeem the Defenders of Netflix's series to unite Daredevil, Punisher, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist for a multiplayer game in the being of WB Montreal's Gotham Knights? We can only hope.
