After months of no post-launch content for Warzone 2 and Modern Warfare 2 - alongside fans being left without vital fixes and core game playlists - it appears players will have to wait even longer for their well-deserved content.
Warzone 2 launched on November 16, opening Al Mazrah's doors and allowing players to rekindle their relationship with the Call of Duty battle royale experience.
However, it's since been left untouched, and amid some form of Japanese takeover with Ronin and Castle set to be coming in Season 2, Call of Duty fans are about to be stung with even more waiting.
Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2 Season 2 Reportedly Delayed
Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2 Season 2 (a mouthful, sorry) are set to be arriving on February 1, as per the in-game battle pass which runs out on this date.
But, according to new leaks and rumours, this could be delayed by at least two weeks, with the expected release date now set back to February 15.
There has been no official announcement from Infinity Ward, while the in-game battle pass is still set to expire on February 1. Could we simply be left in limbo for two weeks? At this point, it wouldn't surprise us.
Why Is Modern Warfare 2 Delayed?
Season 2 is quite a pivotal update for both sides of the Call of Duty tree. Warzone is in dire straights and needs many quality of life changes, a new meta, and more content to enjoy.
Modern Warfare 2 is also becoming stale, with new maps and game modes needed alongside a properly ranked playlist. Maybe Call of Duty fans could find some solace in this delay, as Infinity ward and Raven Software might be taking this time to add more content to the game that will spruce things into life once again.
Or, it could be that the studios are so overwhelmed by the fixes that are required to revive Call of Duty, they simply need more time to make sure Season 2 is in a playable state. Either way, for another two weeks, you'll be playing the same game that you have been for over two months already. Happy shooting.
