While the Holger 556 remains an immensely strong pick in Modern Warfare 3, nerfs to the gun have left the community looking for other options.
However, finding a top-tier loadout amongst the endless amount of customisation available in Gunsmith can be a difficult task.
That's why it's often better to let an expert do the thinking for you, as it's then almost guaranteed that you're going to have a setup in hand that's competitive in multiplayer.
Well, MW3 guru WhosImmortal has a recommendation for a "high-skill gap" AR that has an outrageous TTK at mid to long-range.

Tired of the Holger 556, MCW and BAS-B? Maybe it's time to pick up the powerhouse MTZ-556 which excels due to its incredible damage output.
WhosImmortal heavily recommends the weapon but makes it clear this is a "high-skill gap" AR because of the gun's shaky recoil. To get the most out of this loadout, you will need to learn to control the kickback, so some time in the firing range will be needed.
The reward for your effort though will be an MTZ-556 loadout with the "best in class" long-range TTK, capable of deleting enemies in an instant.

While the MCW, BAS-B, and Holger 556 all sit in front of the MTZ-556 in the rankings, the AR has a huge amount to offer to anyone who isn't put off by a touch of recoil.
