Lies of P, the extremely well-received gaming adaptation of the story of Pinnochio, left us on quite a cliffhanger.
After leaving things wide open for a sequel, intended to combine the classic fairytale story with another iconic piece of literacy and film, recent job listings have hinted that development is well underway and that the second title might be very different.
The sequel appears to be gearing up for quite an expansion of the Lies of P universe, so wide that the title appears to be moving to an open-world setting.
Minor Spoiler Warning
This article contains spoilers for the end of Lies of P. While it's not a major spoiler for how Lies of P concludes, it does entail details of a closing cutscreen.
Lies of P's Wizard of Oz sequel is gearing up to be open-world
The post-credits scene in Lies of P eludes to the Wizard of Oz being the next story to be uncovered, as another Pinocchio-like "Key" has been found by the name of Dorothy - this is followed by a girl in ruby slippers clicking her heels thrice.
Hypothesised to be "Lies of D" or "Land of Oz", the sequel title now appears to be underway as Neowiz Games has posted job listings for Field Level Designer among other roles.
This posting specifically has hinted that Lies of P is going open-world though.
"Extensive experience playing open-world games," is listed as one of the "preferred qualifications", and "open-world experience" is reiterated as a "key point".
The land of Oz and its yellow brick roads would be quite entertaining to traverse, with munchkins and wicked witches to battle across the world, all while Dorothy dreams of returning to Kansas.
Elden Ring has set the tone for many Souls-like games to make the switch to an open-world setting, but such lands take years to develop and Lies of P fans might have to wait some time before popping on their ruby slippers.
