Hey Smoothskin, what you got cooking? While we're still being locked in our underground bunker waiting for news on Amazon's live-action Fallout series, it looks like we've got a radiation leak.
A megaton of Fallout series leaks have given us a first look at a live-action Ghoul, and thankfully, it looks like we're sticking true to the source material with some game-accurate nasties. Westworld's Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy are working on Fallout, and it looks like another epic sci-fi series.
Fallout series leaks show off Ghouls
Although Amazon hasn't given us much from the Fallout vault, leakers have been drip-feeding us various shots that prove Joy and Nolan are nailing the aesthetic of Bethesda's apocalyptic series. Like Naughty Dog's Neil Druckmann helping on The Last of Us, Bethesda's Todd Howard is an Executive Producer here.
Now, @IdleSloth84_ has shown off a series of pictures from behind the scenes of the live-action Fallout series. Following Amazon's official teaser featuring survivors by Vault 33, the latest leaks show a nightmarish Ghoul sharing a smoke in front of a Vault 33 banner.
Alongside the iconic blue and yellow Vault Dweller suits, we see the retro design of the vault's interior and anti-government graffiti showing all isn't well done there. Fans of the games will know that a Ghoul in the vault suggests the doors have been opened to let outsiders in, or they could be a twisted Vault-Tec experiment.
Either way, most loved the first look at a live-action Ghoul and can't wait to see more from Amazon's latest gaming adaptation. One cheered, "Practical effects Ghouls, yes," while another added, "Aw man I can't wait! So much potential in the Fallout universe!"
Not everyone was blown away, though. One critic wrote, "Woah ghoul looks awful" and another concluded, "This is fake, right? That ghouls mask is just a straight rip of Vecna's face from Stranger Things." To be honest, we're glad it's a practical Ghoul and not another CGI overload.
Who is starring in the Fallout series?
Yellowjackets' Ella Purnell is expected to take the lead in Fallout, while Twin Peaks' Kyle MacLachlan is another major name. Ant-Man and the Wasp's Walton Goggins has probably the most interesting role, with casting rumours claiming he'll get to play a Ghoul. That sounds like it'll take some heavy prosthetics.
Speaking to Collider, Joy tried to explain what Fallout will be like and told fans, "It is just a gonzo, crazy, funny, adventure, and mindf**k like none you’ve ever seen before. It's pretty cool." Considering HBO's Westworld was a pretty out-there series, we can only imagine what Fallout will be like.
Amazon is going all in on gaming adaptation these days, and while Fallout is coming first, it'll hopefully lay the foundations for the streaming giant's much-hyped God of War series. Just as long as we don't get another Rings of Power, we'll be happy.
