The VCT Stage 3 Challengers fixture between Gen.G and TSM was one for the early VALORANT record books, as a range of new milestones were smashed - including one which nearly broke the entire lobby.
As both teams looked to qualify for the European Playoffs through the second round of the Challengers' series, Gen.G took an early lead, with a 13-10 victory on Bind.
However, the second map on Split saw a nailbiter that would have seen fingers chewed to the end.
Gen.G and TSM Set Record For Longest Competitive Match In VALORANT
With defensive rounds proving pivotal in the standard time, as just six attacking rounds were won out of the first 26, both teams completed their 13 round waves with the scores all tied up.
The following overtime rounds saw each team trade round after round, taking the game to more than 40 rounds of play.
Tied at 20-20, the Riot Games production team was physically forced to create a brand-new lobby in hope that the game didn't crash at its climax.
Heading into the new lobby, TSM managed to finally rack up two consecutive rounds and come out victorious at 21-23.
44 rounds after starting, the record was set for the longest competitive VALORANT game recorded, topping the 40 rounds previously set in a Challenger Series in India ten months ago.
Nature Breaks Competitive VALORANT record for most kills in a single game
Undoubtedly due to the ever-lasting nature of the game, yet another record was broken. After competing on the second map for over an hour and 45 minutes, Gen.G's Nicholas "NaturE" Garrison was able to harness KAY/O's submissive style to shut down TSM players on a record number of occasions.
NaturE set the record for the most kills in a competitive VALORANT game by securing a whopping 49 kills.
TSM's Matthew "WARDELL" Yu also came close to the record, cracking a colossal 46 kills in the same game, with the two putting on an impressive showcase.
The previous record stood at 48, as 100 Thieves' Peter "Asuna" Mazuryk almost single-handedly swept aside Version1 in a 26-round gruelling series.
As the quest for world supremacy in VALORANT begins to heat up, similar games will be coming thick and fast.
