The beloved Gears of War series has been quiet for some time, which has left fans of Marcus Fenix more than a little frustrated. However, others feel we're only experiencing the calm before the storm.

Given that developers The Coalition doesn't have any other IPs with the Gears pulling power, players have expected that the team has taken a moment to take stock and count its cards - especially to coincide with the upcoming Netflix projects that have caught the eye of Dave Bautista.

It's beginning to look like those fans were right, as Gears might be about to kick back in a big way with a recruitment drive for Gears of War 6

The Coalition Is Finally Hiring For Gears Of War 6

Rev up your Lancers because it looks as though we're heading back into the fray to blast the Locust Horde to pieces. After fan concerns that Gears of War was simply too quiet, we've finally got proof that a new game in the series is in the works.

The development team is currently looking for a Senior Gameplay Designer, among other roles, on a game that is explicitly referred to as a Gears of War game on the Microsoft careers page. The listing was posted on February 28 and is based in Vancouver, where the rest of The Coalition team is.

This might not seem like much, but it's actually huge. At least we've got confirmation the future of the Gears series is being actively talked about and is in the works. Thank goodness.

What's next for Gears of War?

We don't know how far along Gears of War 6 is, and if The Coalition is currently hiring for such a senior role, chances are it's pretty early in development. But, we likely won't be without news for long.

We wouldn't think that casting, writing, and development news for the upcoming Netflix movie and series based on the series is that far off, so keep an eye on Twitter for the next few months to see what comes of the ambitious adaptations.

It's already been four years since Gears 5 divided the franchise's fandom, but with multiple projects in the works, Gears 6 is poised to be the jewel in the crown. Still, if Dave Bautista isn't attached to Netflix's movie, we riot.
