As with many MMOs, Lost Ark has seen a turbulent launch week. The game was officially delayed mere hours before the game was set to launch, and a lot of players still weren't happy with the experience on offer when they finally got into it - but for the most part, Lost Ark is doing pretty well, all things considered. MMOs seem to be making something of a comeback, and it looks like this game is making a case for it being the one that players turn to by default.

Though, as some enjoy the quaint elements of the game, others are turning immediately to lives of crime and becoming quasi-highwaymen that threaten new players. Fun!

Lost Ark Already Has A Notorious Highwayman

OP Lost Ark Player Is Blackmailing Their Rivals

Often players will leap ahead in level when a new game launches, naturally, but one such Lost Ark player, that has sailed through the ranks, is now using their newfound power to ruin the games of new players.

One player, who has already become notorious, is playing Dick Turpin by repeatedly killing newbie players, only offering to stop the repeated massacre if they hand over their in-game currency. Your money or your life, indeed.

Fans have been discussing this nerdy highwayman on Reddit in a post that proves their in-game chats, and it's safe to say that they're not happy - but they can't seem to decide whether or not it's against the rules.

Is Ark Turpin Breaking The Rules?

Players are angry at the idea of a player threatening and blackmailing others, but they're having a hard time proving that they break the game's rules. Naturally, with a game that has elements of open PVP, players will always kill each other - but this is a bit overboard.

It could be said there breaking a 'gentlemen's agreement' of sorts, but there's no actual rule that states that players can't do what this highwayman is doing. It's bleak, but aggrieved players don't have a leg (or much gold) to stand on.

Lost Ark has its own deadly blackmail professional, and this story might create more - though there's little that the game can actually do about it. Brace for the game to become a highwayman simulator.
