Christmas may be officially over, but that hasn't stopped Ludwig from staying in the festive spirit by covering his home in glittery tinsel, and giving away one of his most treasured items for charity.
Christmas 2021 was all abuzz with streamers from across the platforms hosting a number of events to raise money for charity. For example, The Yogscast's Christmas Jingle Jam managed to raise £500k for charity in just 3 hours. Then there was Rachel "Valkyrae" Hofstetter who was blown away by one extremely generous fan who donated $200,000 for charity during her stream.
Well, it seems that Ludwig "Ludwig" Ahgren is set to keep the generous Christmas spirit in his heart for the whole year round by helping to raise money for charity by auctioning off one of his most-prized personal possessions. This incudes his YouTube Silver Play Button, which ended up being bought for over $30,000.
Who Bought Ludwig's Silver Play Button?
Ludwig's Silver Play Button, or Creator Award as it's officially known, was bought by fan Garin Roelofs, who made a bid of $32,000 for the item. In doing so, he just managed to overtake his competitor 'bird x' who offered $31k. The result was that Ludwig helped to add a substantial amount of money to the charity pot, which subsequently led to $100k being raised for No Kid Hungry. Since being set up 25 years ago, the charity aims to "problems of hunger and poverty in the United States and around the world".
The Play Button may seem like a fairly strange item for Ludwig to auction off. However, as any Ludwig fans will know, the Creator Award is particularly significant for the YouTuber given the interesting time that he has had on the platform since he joined in November 2021. Ludwig had already gained a huge fanbase over on Twitch. Yet, his move over to YouTube caused shockwaves across the streaming community and continues to be the topic of conversation in many a streamer's video.
Did Ludwig Auction Off Any Other Items For Charity?
Ludwig auctioned off a number of personal items for charity that he claims had been "sitting in his garage". This included; a Mogul mail sign, a signed Tom Brady football, a colourful collection of Mogul Mail sweatshirts, as well as some Pokémon cards. However, the item which pulled in the biggest amount of dollar was his prized Silver Play Button.
There's no word, as of writing, as to whether Ludwig will host another charity stream any time soon. However, with such a brilliant response, there could be a chance that the YouTuber would consider giving his garage even more of a clear out and auction off some more items in future.
