Marvel Snap is taking over the world of digital card games, and it's clear to see why. Despite some deeply bizarre card effects (we're looking at you, Uncle Ben), the game is a great reflection of what makes Marvel's comic book offerings so special, as well as embracing the fast-paced potential of card games.

The free-to-play title is sweeping card game fans off their feet and into its grip, and with development from the ex-developers of Hearthstone, the team clearly has the expertise to make a card game keep up its appearances and hang onto some longevity. And now, one of the game's biggest and best features is about to arrive.

PvP Is Coming To Marvel Snap

Marvel Snap Is Adding PvP

The arguments with your pals about who's the best at Marvel Snap will finally see their definitive answer, as the game is about to introduce player-versus-player games.

The new Battle Mode is set to be introduced later this year in a big update, which will make a big change to the current layout of Marvel Snap that only allows players to match up with other random players. According to The Washington Post, the option for custom games has been labelled "in development," and it looks as though it's nearing completion, meaning it should be with us before the year is out.

Unlike betting Cosmic Cubes in ranked mode, you'll have health pools that will diminish depending on what you've bet. These Battle Mode matches will take place over multiple games, but you'll use the same deck throughout.

What's Next For Marvel Snap?

The PvP mode for Marvel Snap is no doubt at the forefront of players' minds, but there's actually a lot more to come for the game - which is still technically in early development. Included in the "In Development" section of the game's roadmap are an Unranked Mode, Collector Tokens, and a widescreen UI for PC.

If that wasn't enough, there are more in-game events, as well as collectable emotes and card emojis in the "in concept" section. This comic book Hearthstone is only set to get bigger, and given that it's pretty big already, it's great news for fans and Marvel Snap alike. Card games are coming back in style.
