FromSoftware isn't quite ready to fly its green banners for Microsoft, as it looks like the rumours of Elden Ring coming to Xbox Game Pass have been greatly exaggerated. It's been 18 months since the fantasy epic released, and while it would surely fly up the Xbox charts, it's not coming...yet.

Considering FromSoftware already had Soulsborne goliaths like Bloodborne, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, and the Dark Souls games, we always knew Elden Ring would be a whopper. After all, it's not every day your studio has a whole genre of games named after it.

Elden Ring isn't coming to Game Pass...yet

We'd all heard the rumours of Elden Ring on Game Pass before, but they recently took off again when Xbox Vice President Samantha Bond posted a cryptic tweet hinting at the union. It turns out that Bond was simply playing a game of guess the video game.

Posting on Twitter, Bond claimed she was just sharing an emoji puzzle and came up with a load on a flight. Proving her point, she shared ✋🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️ for Hi-Fi Rush, although not everyone was convinced. Some think Bond is walking back an Elden Ring Game Pass reveal because she spoiled the surprise early, while others are annoyed in general.

One wrote, "No Elden Ring on Game Pass? Just fell to my knees at Walmart," while another added, "I have been holding off buying Elden Ring because of your tweet." Even if Bond is maintaining innocence, not everyone is sold.

Could Elden Ring still come to Game Pass?

It just so happens that Microsoft is in a period of transition in terms of Xbox. The ink is still wet on the Activision Blizzard deal, while Game Pass is being overhauled. The revamped Xbox Core is on the way and promises a selection of new games. Elden Ring would definitely get you to part with your money.

Following Bond's announcement, someone speculated, "Will Elden Ring be added to Xbox Game Pass in September? Personally, I think that's a good chance. Xbox Live Gold ends in September. Games like Elden Ring are still a great opportunity to convert Xbox Live Gold-only subscribers to Xbox Game Pass members."

Phil Spencer looked like he was teasing Elden Ring on Game Pass as early as April 2022, and while it was later listed as part of the Xbox Cloud Gaming service, it was apparently just a bug. Still, as Microsoft tries to muscle Sony out of the market, Elden Ring on Game Pass would be a big win for the Green Team.
