Who'd have guessed that in an E3-free 2023, Microsoft would come out winning? Following a middling Summer Game Fest, the Green Team has come out swinging with its June showcase. But...that's not all.

The Xbox Games Showcase Extended 2023 will announce more titles on June 13, and not that we needed reminding, but it looks like we've turned a corner in terms of first-party games. While Sony has largely reigned supreme for first-party exclusives on the PlayStation, Microsoft has been gathering its bannermen.

Although Starfield is the big one coming in 2023, that's just the start of Microsoft's grand plans for first-party exclusives. Speaking in a post-showcase roundtable (via Eurogamer), Xbox Studios' Matt Booty explained what's on the way for Xbox.

"We had some gaps last year, but I think we've turned the corner coming into 2023," said Booty said. "[I] feel very good about launching Hi-Fi Rush, we have Minecraft Legends out there which is doing well, we have Age of Empires continuing to come to console.

"And then as we saw today, this fall we have Forza Motorsport and Starfield." As for what's next, Booty continued, "Then when we get into 2024, it really kicks into gear. We've got Towerborne, Hellblade, Avowed, Flight Simulator 2024, some other things we've maybe not talked about so far..."

When you put it down on paper, it's an impressive roster that should silence some critics. All too often, it's Sony that gets the limelight when it comes to exclusives. Then again, with the likes of God of WarThe Last of Us, and Marvel's Spider-Man, we can see why.

Xbox has grand plans for the future

Looking beyond 2024, Booty says Xbox is aiming for "four games a year." Xbox boss Phil Spencer also hyped the current status of the company - saying that we're "millions of consoles ahead" of where the Xbox 360 was at this point of its life cycle.

"We have more players than we've ever had, and we're always looking for new players," said Spencer, saying that Xbox is due to make over $1 billion for the first time ever in 2023. As for the proposed Activision Blizzard acquisition, Spencer said, "It's been a long journey, I have to admit that.

"There are 40 countries that have approved the deal, and two we're really focused on getting approval for...We're very committed, It's taking time, it's taking focus, but I'm confident." Assuming it goes through, you'll barely be able to move for Xbox games. Bring on the might of the CoDverse.
