Arguably one of the greatest multiplayer maps in Call of Duty history is headed to Modern Warfare 2 as Strike is coming in Season 5.

Although Modern Warfare 2 might have fallen short of expectations in the nostalgic department, only adding Highrise and Quarry back into the game through Warzone POIs, there have been a bunch of remastered maps that are designed to fit the current way to play.

Now, following in the footsteps of Showdown, Call of Duty has revealed that Strike will be added in Modern Warfare 2 Season 5.

Modern Warfare 2 adds Strike Remastered in Season 5

Originally released in Call of Duty 4, Strike has only ever been redeployed into the series through the fully-remastered title, yet it remains one of the most beloved multiplayer designs ever.

Designed in the typical three-lane structure, the map has a huge lane of sight down the middle which divides the open square and stature on one side and the housed street on the opposite side, offering a range of different combat approaches for SMG, AR, and Sniper players.

The map has been officially confirmed to arrive in a remastered - but not remodelled - state for Modern Warfare 2 Season 5.

"This version of Strike is how veterans likely remember it, albeit with some slight adjustments to make it fit in Modern Warfare II," Call of Duty said in a recent blog post.

With Strike coming at the Season 5 launch, Modern Warfare 2 players will also be treated to another 6v6 design in Punta Mar.

The Mexico-inspired map is located in Las Almas and will likely be used in the upcoming Warzone location, arriving later this year.

MW2 fans will also find some more new maps with Lounge and Canal coming in for Gunfight, and DRC - Zone 1 (a building 21 cut-up) as a core map later in the season.
