Call of Duty bounced back hard over the past month. The release of Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2.0 has led to a resurgence that's even unpredictable for the franchise.

Both titles have come through with the grandest launch in Call of Duty's history and a new battle royale experience that has talked around superfans and naysayers alike.

Of course, it had to come to a close at some point. Despite their intended longevity, games don't always cling to their playerbase forever, and even though Modern Warfare 2 is supposed to last longer than previous instalments, it doesn't look like its all-time high is going to last much lo

Cnger.

Are Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2 Losing Players?

Modern Warfare 2 And Warzone 2 Are Bleeding Players Right Now

As was to be predicted, the new Call of Duty experiences could be on their way out - but they're on their way out much sooner than expected.

SteamCharts is showing that player numbers are suffering some significant dips across the Call of Duty franchise right now. The site claims Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2 are losing their intrigue for wealths of players.

Across PC, the games held onto a 488,897 concurrent player figure, which is impressive, to say the very least. But in recent days, that number has been seen to drop as low as 217,328.

Crunching the numbers, this is a 56% player drop-off in under a month. It's not great news, and though this only applies to PC, it's a pretty significant fall from grace for the shooter series.

Why Are Players Leaving Call Of Duty On PC?

It's not entirely likely that this drop-off is exclusive to PC, as many players take their money's worth from the franchise's recent offerings. If it is PC-exclusive, it's likely a result of the PC performance issues for the games.

Both titles have been plagued by crashes since launch, and though it isn't a catastrophically widespread ordeal, it's more than enough to keep individual players who've been afflicted at bay. It's gotten so bad, some PC players have been calling it "Crash of Duty."

Regardless, the games are suffering, and while it can be predicted, it's a very quick drop. We're sure Activision will pull it back, but even so - oof.
