The beta for Modern Warfare 2 is underway, and it looks like it's working as intended. Of course, every Call of Duty release will be met with equal sums of love and hate, with many "fans" coming down on each new entry to the series with some serious disdain.

In it's current form, Modern Warfare 2 isn't immediately winning anyone over. As the years leading to it have seen trying times for fan reactions, players are offering their feedback so that the shooter series can be as great as it can be before launch. Now, it looks like Infinity Ward is already putting the work into practice.

What Is Modern Warfare 2's Beta Changing?

Multiple changes are set to go into effect in Modern Warfare 2 as a result of feedback that was thrown at Infinity Ward as a part of the game's beta.

The company has revealed that changes are now in development in a new community update posted to its website. Much to the delight of fans, Infinity Ward's priority seems to be changing up Modern Warfare 2's footstep audio. It's a problem that has plagued everyone in the beta, so it's nice that it's on the chopping block for the second week of testing.

"Footstep audio in week one of the MP Beta was very high, giving players long distance directional information about enemies," reads the blog. "For weekend two we have some changes coming in. We are reducing the range of footstep audio for the various player movement states (jog, sprint and tactical sprint)." But that's not the only change.

Modern Warfare 2 Is Fixing Its Perk System

"We've seen varied feedback on the Perk Package system. Some players love it and others feel it's an unnecessary departure from the original system," reads the statement under the Perks category of the update. "We feel it's a nice shake up to how perks work and to the general progression of a match. We've also balanced the ultimate perks to be more powerful as you earn them later in the match."

The much-needed update concludes by saying, "We'll continue testing throughout Beta Weekend Two, including drastically accelerating the earn rate of these to see how players react. Our goal remains improving the flow of all perks ahead of launch." Revamping things already will come as a relief to many - and it seems that IW is open to the idea of scrapping some things entirely. It's a big commitment, and who knows how it'll turn out? Roll on week two.
