It feels as if Vanguard has sucked the life out of Call of Duty in recent months. Yes, the high-paced movement mechanics make for an entertaining game every time you spawn in - bug dependant - but it's the same old stuff every day.

Hardpoint for sweats, Domination for the kill-mongers, and Search and Destroy for the showoffs. Yawn. Unlike other games in the past, there's been little to do that breaks the repetition up, and it appears that Infinity Ward is taking quick steps to make sure Modern Warfare 2 doesn't also turn into a snoozefest.

As the dawn of Modern Warfare 2 approaches, a range of game modes has now been leaked, and it's good news for both casuals and esports fans.

Infected Game Mode Leaked For Modern Warfare 2

According to a new wave of leaks from a dataminer named "Reality", Infected has been found to be a Modern Warfare 2 game mode, as images of the mode's icon have been found within the files.

The game mode takes inspiration from the Michael Myers custom game, pitching a solo hunter against a lobby full of hiders who will join the hunting party when eliminated until a lone ranger is left or time runs out. Serving as a party mode, Infection has become a fan-favourite pass time, and now it appears to be coming to Modern Warfare 2.

A new game mode called Knockout has also been found, which is designed for casual play too, mimicking a Search and Destroy/Sabotage combination where the objective is to "eliminate the other team or be holding the cash when time runs out".

Team Deathmatch, Search and Destroy, Ground War, Hardpoint, Headquarters, Free For All, Domination, Demolition, Cranked, Cyber Attack, Kill Confirmed, and Gunfight have also been leaked as Modern Warfare 2 game modes.

Capture The Flag Leaks Bring Good News For Esports Fans

Within the leaked game modes, only Hardpoint and Search and Destroy make up competitive game modes that will be seen in the Ranked Playlist and the Call of Duty League. Normally, three game modes will make up competitive play, with the third mode changing with most annual releases.

Having seen Blitz (Ghosts), Uplink (Advanced Warfare, Black Ops 3 and Infinite Warfare), Domination (Modern Warfare 2019), and Control (Black Ops 4, Cold War, and Vanguard) all be played as the third game mode, Modern Warfare 2 might be going back to basics with Capture The Flag.

Neither Control, Blitz, and quite obviously Uplink, which was exclusive to the Jet Pack era, have yet to be leaked, meaning that Domination of CTF could be the third competitive game mode. Domination was widely hated during the 2019 season, and now with 4v4 gameplay back, Capture the Flag would be the most probable option.

They may only be early leaks, but it's clear that Infinity Ward is planning on all fronts this year to make Modern Warfare 2 one of the most entertaining and varied games yet.
