While Modern Warfare 3 has done a grand job of mixing nostalgia with current Call of Duty mechanics, given the map pool, many players still yearn for a true trip down memory lane.

Much of the fan base thought this itch would be scratched when Modern Warfare 2 Remastered was announced, but after years of maybes and never really giving fans that dopamine they wanted, only the Campaign was reimagined.

Now, though, fans have taken matters into their own hands, making their own mods to Modern Warfare 2 Remastered and creating a fully functioning multiplayer experience true to the old title.

Modern Warfare 2 Remastered Multiplayer is finally available

As highlighted by FaZe Clan content creator Luke "Scope" Sharretts, Modern Warfare 2 Remastered is finally here. It comes in the form of mods to the Campaign game.

The mod is made by H2Multiplayer and is due to be released in full on August 16. It features all of the iconic guns like Intervention, UMP, ACR, and Model 1887, camos like Red Tiger, killstreaks like Pave Low, and even perks like Martyrdom.

Even the DLC map pool is included alongside remade Campaign areas like the No Russian airport terminals and the snowy Contingency Spec Ops map. Pretty much everything you remember from the year 2009 is in there, and more.

There is a hitch, though, because the mod is only available on Steam - leaving console players out in the cold.

Modern Warfare 2 Remastered sales soar amid new mod

Modern Warfare 2 Remastered has already soared in sales, landing at the number two spot on Steam's Top-Selling list, only being the Steam Deck itself. The title is also currently on sale on Steam for 50% off, bringing the price down to just £17.49.

So, in a time where Modern Warfare 3 might be getting tedious, maybe this MW2 Remastered mod is exactly the right thing to plug the gap until Black Ops 6 arrives.
