Think you've got quite a ballistic rocket of a right foot? Reckon you can bend bullets like Beckham? Or even control the middle of the park like a maestro? Well, you're soon going to be able to put your football (yes, football) and Call of Duty skills to the test as a World Cup Game Mode and Map is expected to arrive with Season 1.
The pinnacle of world football competition beckons with the World Cup 2022 Qatar, and there appears to be a huge mindset of pushing the event into other forms of media like gaming.
With that in mind, we've already seen a sneak peek of how football is collaborating with Call of Duty, but now Modern Warfare 2 seems to be going all-out-attack and throwing a new mode and map upfront.
MW2 World Cup Mode And Map Leaked
With popular icons, Messi, Neymar, and Pogba all set to be added as MW2 operators, renowned leaker "TheGhostOfHope" has claimed that a limited-time mode will also be thrust into the title alongside an exclusive map.
The mode is expected to be some form of Uplink rework, a mode that was previously only added to jetpack titles but did prove to be a hit with fans, especially those in the competitive community.
This would then pit two teams against each other in an all-guns-blazing battle of footwork and nuance, although it's not quite clear exactly how it will work.
Modern Warfare 2 and World Cup Crossover Come Soon
The MW2 World Cup Crossover is then believed to be coming with Season 1, which begins on November 16 - just four days before Qatar and Ecuador get the ball rolling. As for which map will be arriving in the collab, nothing has been revealed so far, although maybe you could look toward Modern Warfare 2019's Stadium for a bit of football fun?
So, Messi, Neymar, Pogba, an Uplink-esque football game mode, and a World Cup-themed map all look set to brighten up Modern Warfare 2 in November, and we can't wait. Infinity Ward shoots, it scores with this one.
