Although Microsoft and Activision are pretty pally-pally right now ahead of the final steps of the merger between both parties, it seems that Sony still has some pull in the Call of Duty world.

With the PlayStation owners having begrudgingly signed a 10-year deal with Microsoft to continue housing Call of Duty, the existing deal appears to be still in force heading into Modern Warfare 3.

With Modern Warfare 3 on the way, PlayStation's exclusivity trend over the Beta is back in action.

PlayStation gets exclusivity with Modern Warfare 3 Beta

Akin to previous games like Vanguard, Cold War, and MW2, PlayStation is being granted exclusivity in the Modern Warfare 3 Beta.

As per the Call of Duty blog, the pre-order of Modern Warfare 3 will give you early access to the Beta and grant you early access to the Campaign.

But slipped in the fine print, CoD has announced that the Beta will be "first on PlayStation", indicating that the Sony-lovers will get at least some time on the MW3 Beta before other consoles.

Modern Warfare 3 beta will open first to PlayStation players

It's not yet sure how long PlayStation players will get on the Beta without crossplay, as Call of Duty is still ironing out when the Beta will be available, ahead of the full launch on November 10.

Last year, PlayStation users were granted a full weekend of action before Xbox and PC players could jump in too, allowing them to understand the maps quickly (although that shouldn't be a problem this year).

The PlayStation-exclusive Beta access did have its progression reset so the second weekend of action was all even again, in terms of gun XP, but it's still quite a nice boost if you've remained loyal to Sony.

This might well be the last time PlayStation will get such bonuses, amid the merger, so make sure to take advantage.
