Microsoft's grip on the Call of Duty series appears to be tightening after it landed in its palm ($69 billion later) late last year.

As the next premium Call of Duty release in Black Ops 6 was announced to be the first AAA "day-one" title to land on the company's Xbox Game Pass subscription, Microsoft may be looking to justify the latest price hike for the service.

Modern Warfare 3 is reportedly being lined up to land on Game Pass too, and its arrival could come as early as this month.

Modern Warfare 3 reportedly landing on Game Pass in July

According to a report from Insider Gaming, Modern Warfare 3 is set to be added to Xbox Game Pass later this month, as the current Call of Duty premium title enters its last quarter at the forefront of the franchise.

The report claims that an official announcement could come as early as this week, with the date of MW3's arrival on Game Pass coming "in the latter half of this month".

This would also go hand-in-hand with previous leaks that other Activision games will be coming to Game Pass too, such as the Crash Bandicoot N.Sane Trilogy, instalments of Spyro, and possibly even Tony Hawk games.

MW3's Game Pass arrival will musk over Xbox's latest price hike

Modern Warfare 3's arrival on Game Pass would mark the first Call of Duty game to land on the service, and one of the biggest "premium" games that Microsoft's subscription boasts, but it doesn't come without a catch.

Earlier today, Microsoft revealed that Game Pass will have another price increase, taking the Ultimate tier to $19.99/£14.99.

It's not confirmed which tier of Game Pass MW3 will be available on, although it's a fair bet you'll find whatever is added on Ultimate, with diminishing returns further down the subscription levels.
