The most difficult part of the current Modern Warfare 2 campaign was seeing that swine Shepherd calling the shots.

Even though he eventually turned into the weasel we know him to be by siding with Shadow Company, that brief time when we worked with Shepherd made our skin crawl.

After all, his betrayal was the most damning piece of Call of Duty cinematography ever, and now with the rebooted series back on fire, fans are using that evil memory to mock our most-loved character and a hot new skin.

Modern Warfare 2 adds a flaming Ghost skin

Ghost has seen quite a lot of love in recent weeks, as he's being pushed into the limelight, potentially to take over Task Force 141 from the perishing hands of Captain Price.

Recently, he's been awarded a Zombies-exclusive skin, which fans have adored. Now, a recent Modern Warfare 2 bundle has literally set Ghost on fire.

The new Tracer Pack Elementals: Magmaflow bundle contains a "Pyro" Ghost skin, which sees flames omit from the skin, literally seeing the character burn across the map.

While this is a crazy edition for a skin and appears to be quite popular at face value, fans have quickly released that it has sick connotations, and with Shepherd's betrayal still burning a hole in our skulls, they've been shocked by this mockery.

Modern Warfare 2 fans join in on the burnt Ghost jokes

Instantly, fans remembered just how Ghost was set ablaze in the original Modern Warfare 2 title, and were horrified at reliving this scene again.

But it didn't take long before others jumped on the bandwagon and took turns roasting Ghost. "Oh look they made a ghost skin from the old MW2 campaign," one fan said in a thread on Reddit. "Skin should have been named Toast," added another fan with a popular comment.

The reverse foreshadowing might not have caught on too quickly, but now it's out there, you won't look at Pyro without a twang in your heartstrings.
