Mortal Kombat is a defining video game, and not just in the realm of fighting titles. The controversy that came of its violent arcade cabinets and home releases is something of a legend, and more than deserves its place in the history books. As Mortal Kombat approaches its 30th anniversary, the legacy of the games is up for celebration.

There's a long list of things that the series could do to celebrate its time in the video game industry, as the game has since become a pop culture icon with Scorpion and Sub-Zero becoming the faces of violence in video games. Now, that the series' 30th-anniversary celebration has been revealed, fans want more.

What Is The Mortal Kombat's 30th Anniversary Ultimate Bundle?

A new leak has revealed that NetherRealm is releasing a new box set to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the Mortal Kombat franchise, and it's a pretty bizarre combo of items.

According to a report from YouTuber TrueUnderDawgGaming, the UK Amazon page of the 30th-anniversary bundle has leaked, and though its price tag is very fair, the content isn't all there.

In the video titled "You Won't Believe This Terrible Mortal Kombat News!" (if that serves as any indication of how fans feel about the new bundle), the account reveals that the bundle contains an exclusive 4K steelbook edition of the 2020 Mortal Kombat film and a PS5 version of Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimate. The package comes at only £30, which is an excellent price if you're considering the exclusive steelbook - but fans aren't happy.

Fans Hate The New Mortal Kombat Set

Fans have rallied up to express their incredible disdain for the package, and though it isn't a perfect collection of items, fans are fuming. "If this is legit, this'll be one of the worst major anniversaries for an iconic game franchise I've ever seen," says one fan in the comments.

"This is kind of a let down," says another. "NetherRealm should have some other or completely new stuff for the anniversary bundle." The bundle is deeply bizarre, especially as fans would pay out of the nose for a triple-pack of ports of the original games - but we'll take it either way.
