The Modern Warfare 2 developers are being criticised for nerfing 'play styles' despite recent struggles, as players have turned against Infinity Ward.

As Warzone 2 and Modern Warfare 2 players flock back to Caldera or other titles like the omnipresent Fortnite, the remaining fans have been trying every method under the Sun to inject some pace into the shell-shocked battle royale.

It's the one major gripe players have; Warzone 2's lack of movement speed paired with a ridiculous time-to-kill rate makes the game much more like a looting simulator before dying in a split second.

So, as some players have found savvy ways to inject a slither of pace into the game, the devs have removed them.

MW2 developers nerf sprint speed tuning trick

MW2 players recently found out that a range of weapons attachments could be used to increase sprint-to-fire speed, and with weapon tuning, this could be ramped up quite significantly.

The popular content creator "TheXclusiveAce" found that the FSS OLE-V Laser and the Xten Grip both increased sprint speed. At the base value, they increase movement by 25%, but when fully tuned, the attachments buffed sprint-to-fire times to over 60% (varying between guns).

However, Infinity Ward has quickly put an end to this trick, and has completely nerfed these attachments in a "small update." Following the nerfs, fans have now hit out at Infinity Ward for being "out of touch" with their players.

MW2 fans are furious as developers nerf sprint speed tuning trick

"Are you guys just lost? We're nerfing sprint-to-fire times? Seriously, if I wanted to play a mil-sim I'd be on ready or not or Tarkov," said content creator "ProReborn."

The attachment nerfs come into play for MW2 and Warzone 2 too, although they will not affect Ranked modes given that weapon tuning is banned in this game mode.

"It's getting depressing struggling to remain a fan of this franchise," another said on Twitter. Someone else added, "This tuning was great to make so many of the slow guns feel viable. What are the devs thinking?"

With this in mind, it's straight back to the Combat Knife for most players who have a thirst for speed, just don't get caught with it in your hand for long.
