Water combat isn't a new thing in Modern Warfare 2, but it has become increasingly more prominent this year when compared to previous instalments. It'd especially in prominent in Warzone, and it's safe to say that people do not like it.

Not in its current form, at least. But Call of Duty once had another game with a lot of deep-sea divers and Kraken killers, as the 2015 Black Ops 3 is outclassing Modern Warfare 2 with better water visuals. It's leaving fans with a face like a wet weekend.

Black Ops 3's water combat outclasses Modern Warfare 2

Having been released in 2015, Black Ops 3 was the first time Call of Duty players could properly use water to their advantage. Back then, we could swim underneath passageways and buildings to emerge in different areas of the map.

However,  the water mechanics were much more visible in comparison to Modern Warfare 2, where the mud-ridden water masks over every submerged character. It makes any aquatic gamers disappear like Harry Houdini.

Black Ops 3's maps, such as Splash, Evac, Hunted, and Aquirium, all had some form of water mechanics that proved to be rather successful by being quite opaque. This has begged the question, why is an eight-year-old game proving to have better visuals than this new-gen console title?

Modern Warfare 2 fans angry at digressing water visuals

That's exactly the hypothesis that has been spun on social media, as players have taken to the internet to hit out at the current state of the game. "Infinity Ward has put so much visual clutter in the game in an attempt to crush the skill gap and lower MnK players," said one fan.

"Not only can you see better you can also shoot underwater with guns that aren't a pistol," added another, pointing out that there is now a restriction on using primary guns in the water too, which wasn't the case back in 2015.

A third concluded, "Because although made in 2015, this game is ages ahead of all COD games that drop today." The comments are filled with plenty of support that Black Ops 3 is the best Call of Duty of all time, but that's an argument for another day.

It's not the first time that MW2 has been criticised for its digression either, as side-by-side comparisons to decade-old games proved that its movement speed was going backwards too.
