Activision's grip on the Call of Duty player base's wallets has tightened in recent years, as continuous bundles and skins have allowed pay-to-win Operator outfits to slip into the multiplayer game.
Modern Warfare 2 is a prime example, as the LA Thieves skin took over the early weeks of gameplay, Roze 4.0 was introduced, and fully pay-to-win DMZ Operators have become a normality in Season 3.
But most skins have been nerfed to become more visible, and having seen the ghillie suits also wander into the pay-to-win category, they now appear to have been broken.
Pay-to-win Ghillie Suits aren't working in Modern Warfare 2
There has been a range of ghillie suits added to the Call of Duty store, recently, with the Jack Links skin being joined by the $20 "Overgrown" outfit and the similarly-priced Gaz and Price skins that can be bought after completing Raid missions.
The camouflaged grass-like appearance has become quite a popular choice for players in modes like Warzone and DMZ where stealth is quite key, but in MW2 multiplayer, they appear to be completely broken.
As shown by one fan on Reddit, the ghillie suits are actually glowing up when in their hiding spots. The Reddit user has shown that the suits are lighting up in the grass, as someone was attempting to hide in the flower beds of Al Bagra Fortress to thwart the enemy's re-take of the B bomb site.

As seen in the screenshot, the ghillie suit is illuminated, almost becoming white, which revealed their position, when they should have been pretty well covered up.
However, it could have been a graphic issue too, as one fan claimed, "It's his graphic settings. Period. Same Gillie on my setup you overlook it a lot."
Another added that this was also a distance glitch, where the skin would bug over a certain range. "We tested this in a private match with a team and an enemy player. It appears to be a visibility feature for enemy ghillie suits causing them to glow at a distance," they said.
Many fans were actually quite pleased that the pay-to-win effects weren't functioning, especially in Search and Destroy, as opposed to the more realistic Warzone and DMZ, where the ghillie suit is in its prime. Now, you might want to avoid hiding in the grass and trust your guns next time you pull out the ghillie suit.
