MW2 fans want beloved mode to return with NVG Black Gold map

I hope you're not scared of the dark. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 fans want a fan-favourite mode back on the NVG Black Gold map.

Infinity Ward

Not even the brightest of LED monitors will help you get a competitive edge over your opponents in the new Modern Warfare 2 season, as Infinity Ward has turned off the lights for its two new maps.

Pelayo's Lighthouse, for all of its landscape and architecture woes, has been plunged into the darkness of a stormy night. Here, squinting is necessary anywhere along the shoreline.

But, it's Black Gold where your eyes are really pushed to the limit. The night-vision goggle map has removed all sources of light. So, wouldn't this be the perfect opportunity to make it a little bit spooky?

MW2 fans call for Night-time Infected mode

With Ground War Infected planned to come in Season 3 Reloaded (the mid-season update), fans have now called for the chaotic man-hunt to be played on Black Gold.

After showing an image of the Black Gold map with the NVG removed, and a simple weapon flashlight added, fans have now called for Infected in the Dark to come to Modern Warfare 2 too.

"That would be sick! No throwing knives, [and then] flashlights on shotguns/pistols, with glow sticks on the ground or something would be sick," added one fan.

The mode would need some tweaking, though, as one Redditor pointed out how "the flashlights have to be made way brighter first, there's a problem if I can barely see across the Hardpoint with one."

Night-Vision Playlists need to be added to Modern Warfare 2

Others did point out that there needs to be a separate playlist for the night-time maps. "I tried playing it and started to get a migraine earlier," said one player. This came amid a debate that Black Gold should be removed from the normal map pool and placed in a separate list alongside future NVG maps.

For the time being, it seems like Black Gold will be the only darkness-orientated map, as the mid-season update brings one more core landscape to the 6v6 game, which has been confirmed to be within the sunlight.
