Modern Warfare 2's menus and gunsmith table aren't spectacular. In fact, they suck. They're horrible, and they've received a lot of hate from fans who are finding it difficult to manoeuvre through the menus and create a class. Now, it appears that the developers have listened to early feedback and have planned a complete rework.
Whether it be trying to find your favourite game mode, trying to locate friends and join different party channels, or even filtering through the infinite scroll in the camos section, the UI has been quite frustrating to handle for the usual player.
Having taken inspiration from streaming services like Hulu in its designs, Infinity Ward's design team has now decided to change both the User Interface (UI) and the User Experience (UX) for Modern Warfare 2, according to leaks.
Infinity Ward To Change Modern Warfare 2 Menus After feedback
According to Call of Duty insider "Ralph Valve", Infinity Ward is making some huge changes to the interfaces ahead of Season 1 - mostly to make a streamlined and easier system that can be replicated on Warzone 2 and Warzone Mobile.
The leaker claimed, "Revision is coming to the UI/UX for the future of Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2.0," before adding, "Several departments continue to work in collaboration to sharpen the UI and other additional interfaces for Season 1 and beyond."
The leaker claimed that an Infinity ward source said, "it’s a work in progress, there’s a lot of moving pieces. Updates have been well underway".
What Will Change In The MW2 UI/UX In Season 1?
Infinity Ward was previously open about its "complete rebrand" and "major redesign" of the menus and experience. This means that while changes are stirring, the new interfaces will stay, albeit adapted, and notions of reverting to the classic Call of Duty feel should be forgotten.
What you can imagine seeing is a much more measured approach to the four menu widgets to make finding games easier, while an easier method of seeing the camos will likely come into play.
It's worth noting that the developers will also soon be launching the second half of their UI/UX with statistics and combat records being revealed (supposedly in Season 1) with the addition of more playlists.
