Often in a game of Call of Duty, you find yourself wanting to change weapons. Whether it's just to change the stock of your TAQ-56 to help you beam players out of the window on Himmelmatt Expo, or fancy a change of pace with the Vaznev-9K to get up close and personal, you're always likely to be swapping your arsenal.

But the latest UI update is making this process extremely annoying. As of Modern Warfare 2 Season 4, a UI update has come into effect, which is pushing the use of double XP tokens over actual in-game functions like loadout changes. Safe to say, players do not like it one bit.

Modern Warfare 2 Season 4 UI changes slammed by players

Why would they change the default selection when you press start during a game from Loadouts to your tokens?

As of Modern Warfare 2 Season 4, you will default to opening the menu with the Double XP Token section highlighted, which has broken an almost 15-year-old tradition of being able to change loadouts almost instantaneously.

With the change, many players who have spent years smashing in the muscle memory patterns by habit are now getting stung to using tokens that they didn't want to use and are taking forever to get back in the action. "[It's] absolutely infuriating when changing to my anti-air class lol," the original poster added.

Fans quickly backed the frustration too, saying, "I'm fine with stupid cosmetic s**t running rampant. I'm furious that they are changing years of muscle memory in these games to push people to accidentally use tokens so they buy more. This is getting absolutely insane."

Infinity Ward is pushing you to finish the Battle Pass quickly

The change comes in just as Season 4 airs, and it's rather coincidental that this season has also broken tradition by being the shortest season ever, meaning players will have to fly through the Battle Pass.

With the $30 Blackcell Battle Pass being immensely popular again, these double XP prompts are likely in place to make sure players are getting through the tiers as quickly as possible and complete it in just seven weeks.

"Tbh probably another 'gimmick' for people to accidentally use tokens as way to get people to consider spending money," another fan pointed out.

Hopefully, the next time you need to change weapons won't be because you're titled and need a change of pace, as it could be the straw to break the camel's back if you go wasting tokens on top of getting slapped.
