The Modern Warfare 2 beta has swung and missed in many respects. The second instalment of the renewed series has come in and made some major changes to how fundamental Call of Duty, including movement, gunsmiths, and general gameplay statutes.

What might have first been seen as quite a fun and arcade-ish inclusion was the third-person playlist, the first of its kind in Call of Duty history. Especially given that its first run-out during the beta was the only way to play the popular Hardpoint game mode.

However, it appears that the third-person mode wasn't quite made with gameplay in mind, and rather comes as a way of luring you into making microtransactions.

Does Modern Warfare 2 Include Third-Person Playlists?

Modern Warfare 2

The third-person game mode takes Call of Duty from its usual genre into something more PUBG or Fortnite-esque, which seems to be a theme considering that the game has nabbed quite a lot of inspiration from Rainbow Six this year.

From its early run-out in the Modern Warfare 2 beta, the game mode has actually gone down quite well, albeit with a change of pacing evident and still some unpolished edges to its aiming transitions.

Relatively, the Modern Warfare 2 third-person playlist has added a nice sense of diversity to the usual run-and-gun franchise, although it will scarcely make a dent in attracting players for the long-term. Unless players are enjoying oggling at their wacky skins...

MW2 Third Person Playlist Is Made Just To See Skins

According to the in-the-know Call of Duty brand CharlieIntel, the third-person playlist was added more to show off players' skin purchases, which have promised to be great this year.

The third-person model will allow players to see their operator outfit in the full, luring players in to buy and sport Activision's many crossover bundles and high-tiered rewards.

Activision's microtransaction pull is well-documented in the gaming sphere, with Warzone and the annual Call of Duty release always seen to be plundering the pockets of its player base to keep up with flashy new trends. Now, their intention must fluctuate from weapon skins to operator outfits, given that the third-person view will show it off in its entirety.

So, if you want to be a recognised player in your third-person lobbies, you'll either need to have a hole burning in your wallet or be flying the flag at the top of the leaderboard.
