MW2's newest clown skin is doing exactly what we knew it would

The latest clown outfit in Modern Warfare 2 is quite the jump scare for those mil-sim lovers.

We all love a good spook, and the Halloween-themed Call of Duty skins are quite the popular choice when the pumpkins come out to dance with the ghouls.

But it's currently mid-summer. So what the heck are clowns doing being added to Modern Warfare 2?

That's the question on the lips of the die-hard mil-sim lovers in the Call of Duty realm, as the Ronald-McDonald-looking operator is causing a rather predictable stir.

Call of Duty oldies hate the upcoming clown skin

A new clown skin has been leaked to be coming to Modern Warfare 2, and after its image has done the rounds on Reddit, to very few people's surprise, a large section of the fan base hates it.

"Fantastic. Now I can be killed by discount daft punk, Snoop Dog, Minaj, a rat, cats, and now a clown. Oh COD," said one aggrieved fan.

Another added, "It's not even just that this is a clown outfit. It's that it's such a s**t-looking clown that shopped at a military surplus store."

Call of Duty has a habit of reeling out its circus freak towards the end of its annual cycle, having produced similar skins for Vanguard and Cold War rather late in the respective game's lifetimes.

Other Modern Warfare 2 fans want more clowning around

With quite a big pushback against the skin, other fans have now mocked the old guard, and have actually called for the developers to go the whole hog and give the clown skin a honking nose and party tricks.

"If it doesn't make a squeak sound when you get a headshot on it or it's just more stupidity. That would at least make it mildly amusing," a more easily-entertained fan said.

"If they’re gonna commit to these types of skins, they better go all out. I don’t necessarily like the non-mil-sim skins, but I can appreciate the 'wacky' ones if they just commit to the bit," added another.

Unfortunately, this red-nosed operator doesn't even come with boat shoes, so it's likely that you won't be pulling out water guns or other like-minded jokes without getting yourself killed.
