Like it or not, Call of Duty has fully embraced crossovers - creating Operator skins for Lara Croft, Nicki Minaj, Spawn, and even Homelander. While this has come at the cost of the Mil-Sim aesthetic and the frustration of a portion of the playerbase, it has meant the game's cosmetics have been taken to the next level.

Heading into MW3, it's clear Activision has no intention of ditching the flashy and attention-grabbing skins, even using the recent Modern Warfare 3 trailer to showcase an upcoming blueprint.

This comic book skin has divided CoD fans with its special weapon effects that make the gun look like it's shooting in a comic strip.

For some, the "dope" blueprint is already on their wishlist, but for others, it's just another sign that Call of Duty is going downhill.

Call of Duty fans slam "cringe" comic book blueprint

Pointed out by ModernWarzone, Activision took the opportunity to show off an upcoming comic book blueprint in the new MW3 trailer. Alongside a clean design, the skin also appears to include weapon effects that make the gun look like it's "shooting in a comic strip."

As expected, this garnered a mixed response, with some fans taking the time to slam the cosmetic and arguing it's proof CoD is becoming more like Fortnite by the day. "So the cringe continues in the new CoD," said one user.

Another argued, "Lmao they already advertising bundles in the reveal trailer, this s**t a cash grab." As always, skins like this spark a lot of anger among some fans who are looking for CoD to return to "realism," but that doesn't look like it's going to happen anytime soon.

Other CoD players think comic book skin effects are 'really cool'

MW3 skins

Not everyone dislikes the comic book skin, though, with some players celebrating the "dope" and "really cool" weapon effects. "This is a fire weapon skin and love the bullet effects," said one user, with another claiming, "That gun skin actually looks really cool."

MW3 may mark the beginning of a new Call of Duty cycle, but one thing is for sure: Activision is not changing their skin & cosmetic strategy.

For some, this will be brilliant news as the store will always be packed with exciting collaborations and whacky skins to collect. Others will be immensely disappointed, frustrated that the franchise is distancing itself more and more from the military theme.
