The upcoming Modern Warfare 3 Zombies game mode hasn't quite been as well-received as Sledgehammer Games and Treyarch may have wanted, but it looks like fans are finally warming up to this crazy idea.

A step away from the staple round-based Zombeis experience is always met with a lot of scepticism, with fans often abiding by the "if it's not broken, don't fix it" motto.

Yet with Modern Warfare 3's open-world DMZ-Outbreak Zombies crossover on the horizon, a wave of new information about the mode on the eve of its release finally has fans getting excited.

Sledgehammer Games teases fans with Zombies Wonderweapons and Perks

Zombies is returning to Call of Duty outside of the Black Ops (and WaW) series for just the second time, and the new ambitious game mode has fans slightly worried that it won't be a success.

But now Sledgehammer has taken to a blog post to reveal all the details for the upcoming mode and it looks like we're in for quite the treat.

The developers have now revealed that all of the classic Zombies features such as the Random Box, Perks, Pack-a-Punch, and Wall-Buys will be available in the game mode, and there will be an abundance of Wonder Weapons to choose from.

Returning once again is the Ray Gun, which will be available inside the Random Box. The stalwart Zombie-zapping weapon will also be joined by another icon in the Wondurwaffe, which will likely be a fan favourite too.

Both of these come on top of the news of a new Wonderweapon: The Scorcher, which appears akin to the Thundergun by creating blast cones, but can also deal much more damage to the vicinity and can physically make you airborne, should you need to make a quick exit.

Well, with this in mind, fans now appear to be a bit more excited.

Modern Warfare 3 fans are finally looking forward to Zombies

"Okay this actually looks pretty good, all of the vibes of DMZ while being booze cruising friendly and collaborative. Humans vs zombies as it should be," one fan said, who appears to have changed opinions following the blog post.

Another said, "Looking forward to this with my zombie crew on launch day. We've been wanting an open-world zombie game for a long time."

A third fan also commented, "Nah this actually looks fun. Imagine watching ur homie get mauled by 50 zombies and having to leave his a** cuz u don’t wanna lose ur s**t."

The only hitch now is that games are set to last just 60 minutes, and we all know that Zombies should be a deep-night venture where the biggest boss is fighting off sleep.
