Modern Warfare 3 fans have called for the "toxic" Grenade Launcher to be removed from Hardcore modes because it's unbelievably frustrating to play against.

The words "Grenade Launcher" are enough to strike fear into the hearts of countless Call of Duty fans, especially veterans who experienced their absurd power back in the day.

Combining the noob tube, One Man Army and Danger Close together in Modern Warfare 2 (2009) resulted in one of the most overpowered strategies in the history of the franchise.

Nowadays, CoD's developers have learned from the mistakes of their predecessors, and the Grenade Launcher is a little less overturned. Well, that excludes one specific mode where it's been labelled as "toxic" with MW3 fans calling for it to be banned.

MW3 players demand RGL-80 Grenade Launcher is banned in Hardcore

Taking to the ModernWarfareIII subreddit, user Grand-Might-9295 decided to voice their frustration with the RGL-80 Grenade Launcher in the Hardcore mode.

While the weapon is "weak" in regular multiplayer, it's absolutely "ridiculous" in Hardcore. In their opinion, it's the "worst addition" that was ever made to MW3. As a result of this, they've called for the RGL-80 to be banned in HC as soon as possible, and a lot of the community agrees.

"Every single HC S&D round starts with at least one person on both sides spamming the grenade launcher, so annoying," said one user, with another claiming, "It needs lower damage or something in HC, it's brutal."

The devs are happy to implement gun bans in Ranked, so if enough complaints start to surface, it's very possible the Grenade Launcher could be removed from HC.

MW3 fans call for Grenade Launcher to become a Killstreak again

In previous Call of Duty titles, the Grenade Launcher or War Machine, as it's typically known, can only be earned via a Killstreak.

This means players have to build up enough eliminations and work towards unlocking the gun. A lot of fans believe Sledgehammer should add the RGL-80 to the Killstreak list, as that way, there would be significantly fewer competitors spamming explosives into the air in HC.

"It should be a damn Killstreak," said one user, with another agreeing, "100% it needs to go back to being a Killstreak." Making it a Killstreak would also allow the devs to make it stronger in core multiplayer, where it's currently pretty useless due to its underwhelming damage.
