While Call of Duty fans are still waiting on the release of MW3 multiplayer, it's safe to say the campaign experience was a major disappointment.

Slammed as forgettable, boring, and cobbled together by the community, Sledgehammer's attempt at innovation with Open Combat Missions completely missed the mark.

If that wasn't enough, specific characters that played a major role in MW2's narrative are MIA in Modern Warfare 3.

For some players, there's one character that needed to be in MW3 and would have made the campaign significantly better.

CoD fans wish Alejandro Vargas appeared in MW3 storyline

Taking to the ModernWarfareIII subreddit, fans believe Alejandro Vargas should have been in the MW3 campaign and would have elevated the story as a whole.

The leader of Los Vaqueros became an instant fan-favourite in MW2 and even had a Warzone Season dedicated to his feud against Valeria.

With MW3's narrative being such a disappointment, CoD players think Alejandro's involvement would have at least been a small positive to please the fans. Whether it would have actually made sense in the narrative with Makarov though is another question.

"It would be nice if they needed him for at least one mission so that he could appear in the campaign," said one user, with another claiming "I was really hoping we'd see him return and maybe Valeria, but nah lol."

Why doesn't Alejandro appear in MW3 campaign?

Ultimately, as amazing as it would have been to have Alejandro pop up in MW3's story, some players think it just wouldn't have made sense. Vargas already has his hands full in Mexico with the cartel, so it's unlikely he'd have the time to assist with Makarov.

"He wouldn't fit into the campaign, cool as he was... They should've done a cartel-themed spinoff with Alejandro & Los Vaqueros," said one user, with another arguing "Why would he be in it though? He clearly is passionate and focused on protecting his home from the cartel which he never strayed from."

While Alejandro's appearance in MW3 would have been undeniably exciting, it feels like even he would have struggled to pull together the half-baked story. As a result, he's probably pleased he gave this one a miss.
