MW3 Frag Grenades no longer one-shot & players hate it

Modern Warfare 3's Frag Grenades no longer one-shot in Season 3 and in the eyes of players, they're now useless compared to the Semtex.

While a Claymore can hold down power positions, and nothing feels better than a cross-map Throwing Knife, the Frag Grenade has always been the most reliable Lethal in Call of Duty.

Cooking up the explosive and tossing it into an enclosed space in multiplayer was guaranteed to clear a room and sometimes net you a kill.

This was no different in Modern Warfare 3, but Sledgehammer Games appear to have alternative plans for the old reliable Frag Grenade, as it was hit with a nerf in Season 3. It's lost so much damage that it no longer one-shots enemies when it lands at their feet, and the community isn't happy.

Sledgehammer Games nerf Frag Grenades in MW3 Season 3

While the Thermobaric Grenade received countless buffs in the Season 3 patch, the Frag was not so lucky and instead had its power massively reduced.

For starters, the devs decreased the inner explosive damage from 250 to 225. Not only that, they decreased the intermediate explosive damage from 150 to 130.

These are not small alterations and are guaranteed to shift the meta in the Lethal category, with fewer competitors going for the default frag.

Some players are already heralding the Semtex as the "new king," so it may be worth making the switch for yourself if you're noticing a lot of foes sponging your frags.

MW3 fans hate 'odd' Frag Grenade nerf that no makes no sense

This change has been called "odd" by the community who are not sure why this change was necessary, given EOD Padding is already a solid counter to explosives. For them, more focus needs to be put on the annoying Stun and Flash Grenades, rather than the classic Frag which is core to the Call of Duty experience.

As showcased in the ModernWarfareIII subreddit clip, Frag Grenades no longer even one-shot foes when the explosive goes off at their feet. This is a step too far for countless fans who don't understand why this was implemented seemingly out of the blue.

"Nah what the f**k is Sledgehammer doing," said one user, with another arguing, "No shot frags were nerfed (I haven't played in months) So like, a f**king GRENADE doesn't one hit kill."

For now, Frags have been left in the mud, which will likely make way from the sticky Semtex to take over. However, for those who love cooking an explosive to time it perfectly for quick eliminations, this is going to bring down their multiplayer experience.
