Modern Warfare 3's fun and quirky ways to play have continued to arrive late into its cycle, with Season 5 Reloaded continuing on from where the WWE modes left off.

Now, Paintball has stepped in as the witty wonder, as Modern Warfare 3 will be trading bullets for paint pellets in this new one-shot mosh pit. There is a flaw though, as players are quickly getting fed up with the cel-shaded maps that come with it.

Modern Warfare 3 Season 5 brings Fishfection and Paintball party modes

Season 5 Reloaded is on the way and will be one of the biggest updates yet, as files will be shrunk ahead of Black Ops 6.

With the Reloaded update comes some new party modes, joining stalwart Search and Destroy variants like Cyber Attack and Defuse or Destroy. Fishfection, a playlist that will have you harpooning fishy operators, and paintball will be added.

Paintball will follow stereotypical rules - one tag, and you're out - making it one of the more punishing modes yet as One in a Chamber combines with Hardpoint and Domination. This has quickly brought up the topic of maps, as the developers revealed that Paintball will be played on Toonoxide and Celship.

Some disgruntled Call of Duty fans feel that some legacy maps like Rush from the Black Ops series might've been better served.

Modern Warfare 3 players bored of the new cel-shaded maps

The cel-shaded maps have become a fixation for the developers as of late, although the reception hasn't quite been as promising as Sledgehammer might have hoped.

Players have already taken to Reddit to vent at these maps "ruining" the game. "Rush would be perfect," said one fan. "On Vondel they have a paintball field idk why Sledgehammer is so obsessed with the cel-shading stuff."

A second doubled down, saying the need to be removed. "IDK about y'all but the cel-shaded maps need to go. They just don't fit." A third player concluded, "Oh my god, way to ruin the experience even further." Another cel-shaded map is on the way, although Paintball will only feature two so far.
