When you think of a Call of Duty hacker, the first thing that springs to mind is a player using an aimbot and locking onto every enemy in sight.
Unfortunately, third-party software has been taken to a new level recently, with MW3 being home to some of the most advanced cheats in multiplayer.
While taking down an opponent who couldn't miss a bullet was hard, competitors are now facing completely invisible foes.
These hackers can effectively run around the map taking no gunfights and simply secure kills anytime they please.
MW3 cheaters are now invisible & it's causing chaos
Taking to the ModernWarfareIII subreddit, user justthayguyloo shared a concerning clip of an enemy on Sub Base who was completely invisible.
While running around looking for kills, they were taken down by a knife out of nowhere and as you would expect, justthayguyloo was extremely confused.
After reviewing the kill cam, the opponent appears to be using third-party software or a game-breaking bug to hide their Operator in multiplayer.
While typically desync can cause foes to appear invisible temporarily, this doesn't seem to be the case here as the enemy doesn't reappear after the elimination.
CoD fans claim MW3 has the "most cheaters" they've ever experienced
While the RICOCHET team and CoD devs did reveal in December that 23,000 accounts were banned for cheating in recent months, it's simply not enough for some members of the community.
In their opinion, MW3 is suffering from a serious hacking problem that only seems to be getting worse. With invisible cheaters running around multiplayer now as well, it's hard to argue with them.
"These hackers are getting insane, MW3 has probably the most cheaters I've ever experienced, some don’t even try to hide it," said one user, with another arguing "Glad I gave up on this game, literally impossible to have fun."
RICOCHET may be punishing certain hackers, but others are slipping through the net and if invisible cheaters become more common place, heavy backlash is guaranteed to follow.
